State Senator Greg Tarver from Shreveport talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the conflicting stories being told regarding the Red River Waterway Commission non-appointment of Carolyn Prator.

Recently, Governor John Bel Edwards, despite numerous recommendations, passed over the wife of Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator for appointment to the commission. According to the Tarver, Edwards told him in a telephone conversation that he rejected the Prator appointment because of criticism of the governor's justice reform legislation by the Sheriff, a conversation that the Governor denies.

"What the Governor said to me," Tarver told KEEL listeners, "I repeated to the press. My story is not going to change. I had the conversation with him and (then) I told Sheriff Prator exactly what he said. That is my story. It is not going to change."

Tarver went on to say that he remains a "strong supporter" of Governor Edwards and his policies and that as far as he's concerned "the hatchet is buried."
