UPDATE: Officials say a nurse was killed in the stabbing incident at a Longview hospital.

22-year-old Kyron Templeton has been charged with murder and four counts of aggravated assault with bond set at $2.6 million.

The nurse, Gail Sandidge, had worked at Good Shepherd Medical Center since 1978.

Templeton was at the hospital with his mother.  No word on a possible motive.

ORIGINAL: One person is dead and four others are wounded after a stabbing at Good Shepherd Medical Center this morning in Longview.

Longview Police Department has arrested a suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed.

The stabbing occurred in the surgical unit in the ambulatory building at the medical center.  Longview Police Officer Kristie Brian says there no clear motive for the attack.

One worker died in the attack, a visitor is in critical condition, another visitor is in good condition and two other workers are in good condition.  Victims' names were not released.

Here is the statement from Good Shepherd Medical Center:

The Good Shepherd family tragically lost a member of our team this morning. At approximately 7 a.m., there was a stabbing incident that occurred at our Ambulatory Surgical Center located across the street from the main Medical Center that injured two employees and three visitors. At this time, of the remaining patients, one is in critical condition and three are in good condition. The Longview Police are currently investigating the incident.

 

All victims were taken to the emergency center for assessment and treatment. This was an isolated incident that was diligently handled by the Longview Police Department and our Good Shepherd response team.

 

We are unable to answer any additional questions until the police complete their investigation. We will provide an update on the patient's conditions at 4 p.m. today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected and our team who responded to today's events.
