On February 4th, 2023, Shreveport Police officers were contacted in reference to a report of domestic abuse in the 1500 Block of Line Avenue. Arriving officers located what was described as “a significant amount of blood” on the sidewalk. Officers followed the trail of blood to locate a victim suffering from multiple injuries to her face and cuts to her hands.

During the responding officer’s investigation, a location for the suspect was identified. Officers took Bruce Johnson (6/9/86) into custody in an adjacent parking lot. Johnson was reportedly in possession of the knife used in the violent act.

Johnson was transported to Shreveport City Jail and charged with one count of domestic abuse battery with a weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, one count of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, and one count of carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon.

A 10-year-old child was present however, thankfully, was uninjured in the incident.

Shreveport Homicides in 2023

Homicide describes a person killing another person. That doesn't always mean it was a crime. Justifiable Homicides do exist, and will be counted on this list. These are violent killings, not necessarily murders. Murders are recognized as a crime, unlike all homicides.
