Shreveport Police Department K-9 “Cairo” Assists in Arrest
On April 25, 2022, Shreveport Police K-9 officers assisted the US Marshals office in the execution of an arrest warrant in the 900 Block of Winter Garden Drive for 21 year-old Jerquavious Johnson.
Johnson was wanted for one count of 2nd degree battery, one count of attempted armed robbery, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. All warrants were issued in Bossier Parish.
Law enforcement officers developed information that led them to the home. Officers made multiple attempts to get Johnson to exit the residence and surrender peacefully, but he refused to comply. Shreveport Police K-9, Cairo, was summoned to the scene, entered the home, and located Johnson hiding inside of a closet. Cairo’s presence encouraged Johnson to surrender peacefully and without incident.
Police K9’s were introduced to the force after an officer was murdered during a business search many years ago. Their impact public safety and officer safety is immeasurable.
