On Friday, January 17, 2025, at approximately 12:36 AM, Shreveport Police Department (SPD) officers conducted a traffic stop on a white sedan after observing the vehicle cross the centerline of a two-lane divided roadway. The vehicle, traveling southbound on Fairfield Avenue, crossed into the opposing lane before officers activated their emergency lights and sirens.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop near East 67th Street and Fairfield Avenue. Officers made contact with the driver, identified as William Scriber Jr., and informed him of the traffic violation. During the interaction, Scriber admitted to striking other vehicles while leaving an apartment complex.

Officers requested Scriber retrieve his insurance and registration, which he stated was in the glove box. While maintaining focus on the driver, officers observed significant damage to the vehicle's passenger side, indicating a recent collision. At that point, Scriber locked the vehicle doors and suddenly fled the scene, leading officers on a dangerous pursuit.

The suspect traveled westbound on East 67th Street, disregarding a stop sign at Southern Avenue before veering off the roadway. He continued southbound on Dillman Avenue, ultimately reaching East 70th Street, where he drove into the oncoming lane. The pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped at West 70th Street and St. Vincent Avenue.

Officers successfully restrained Scriber after he initially resisted arrest. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a pipe commonly associated with narcotics use was discovered and seized.

Due to minor injuries sustained from a vehicle collision and during the arrest, Shreveport Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene to provide medical evaluation.

William Scriber Jr., previously convicted of vehicular homicide in 2023, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of:

· Aggravated Flight from an Officer

· Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

· Multiple Traffic Offenses

This arrest underscores the risks posed to law enforcement and the public during incidents of aggravated flight. The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to ensuring public safety and holding offenders accountable for endangering the community.
