Shreveport Juvenile Behind Bars for Shooting His Own Sister
Shreveport Police responded to a local hospital after a female victim arrived seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
SPD Officers learned the shooting had occurred on Linwood Avenue. The victim reported that she had been shot by her 16 year-old brother. Her injuries were non-life-threatening.
The Violent Crimes Unit was called, and the investigator responded to continue the investigation. Officers found the juvenile suspect at his home, where he was detained and transported to the Violent Crimes Office for questioning.
Due to the suspect’s age, his mother was called and she came to the detective’s office. Both the juvenile and his mother declined to provide a statement and requested a lawyer.
Crime Scene Investigators also responded and collected evidence related to the incident.
The 16 year-old suspect was booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center on one count of Illegal Use of a Weapon and one count of Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile.
From SPD:
"This incident serves as an important reminder to parents and guardians to know where their children are, who they are spending time with, and what they are doing. This shooting could have easily resulted in a fatality. Fortunately, the victim survived, but the outcome could have been far different."
The investigation remains ongoing.
