Mayor Ollie Tyler says that Shreveport city workers deserve raises and she'll do whatever she can to get them, hopefully without having to go to the citizens for tax or fee increases.

Her Honor tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty that she hopes to be able to pay for the increases through cuts to the current city budget, but said her administration is also considering a number of ways to increase city revenue.

Last fall the Shreveport City Council turned down Mayor Tyler's request to institute a $12 monthly garbage fee to free monies from the general fund to cover the cost of raises for employees making $80,000 a year or less.
