The Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport breaks ground on the Renaissance at Allendale which will replace the old Jackson Heights Housing Complex. But there is one problem.

The site is in the path of the I-49 inner city connector.

A recent study shows the economic impact at $863 million dollars if the connector is built through the heart of Shreveport, while the loop around the city has an impact of $440 million.

Mayor Glover says "I still want to evaluate the numbers, but I'm not sure I believe those big figures."

He adds that housing is desperately needed in Allendale, and this complex will draw people from all over town.
