Shreveport fire investigators are looking into the cause of an early-morning house fire that killed a 25-year-old man.

Firefighters were called to a house fire just before 3:30 this morning in the 3000 block of West Cavett Street.  When they got there, they found a car under the carport as well as the house, itself, engulfed in heavy smoke and flames.  The house was heavily damaged by the fire as was the car under the carport. Another car parked behind it was also damaged by the heat.

A 25-year-old man identified as John Johnson died in the fire as did one dog.  Three other people were able to escape the flames via a bedroom window in the rear of the house.  Johnson was Shreveport's third fire fatality of the year.

More than 25 Shreveport firefighters, including Chief Craig Mulford,  responded to the call
