The Shreveport Fire Department received a call at 7:18 a.m. this morning from an off duty Bossier City Police officer; passing by Ernie’s Bar in the 200 Blk. of Wall Street; that the business was on fire. Firefighters from Station #5 arrived on scene at 7:22 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the business.

Firefighters gained entry into the business and extinguished the fire inside the bar. The situation was placed under control at 7:38 a.m. It took eight units (twenty-six firefighters) sixteen minutes to bring the fire under control. The business was closed and no employees were present at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries reported and the fire is under investigation by the Shreveport Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau. The business sustained heavy smoke damage and moderate fire damage throughout the building.
