Another Fire at Abandoned Shreveport Apartments

Early this morning yet another fire was called-in from the former Oak Meadows Apartments on Centenary Boulevard.

SFD got to the apartments in six minutes after the call was made, and they saw one of the upstairs apartments totally engulfed in flames. SFD fought hard to get the fire under control, and were able to get it put out in just over 10 minutes.

No injuries to the public or Firefighters were reported. This property has been abandoned for quite some time, and no utilities are hooked up on the property. The structural damage and cause of the fire are still under investigation by SFD's Fire Prevention Bureau.

Shreveport Fire Department has reported that this will be the tenth fire on this property in six months. This morning makes the fifth fire this year.

"The SFD urges the public to remain vigilant regarding vacant or abandoned properties within their communities. All suspicious activities should be reported to authorities immediately. Doing so may decrease the likelihood of a fire or other emergency from occurring."
