Shreveport Felon Arrested With Gun After Fleeing Police
On March 10th, 2023, around 7:35 a.m. Shreveport Police patrol units were dispatched to a suspicious person call in the 1000 block of West 70th in reference to a male sleeping inside of a vehicle.
As responding officers attempted to make contact with the male, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers eventually tased the fleeing suspect and he was taken into custody. The suspect was found to be in possession of a firearm and multiple types of narcotics.
The evidence was seized by the officers and the suspect was identified as Dalando Garner (12/11/1990). Dalando Garner was found to be a convicted felon due to numerous prior convictions for violent crimes.
Garner was arrested for one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a schedule two narcotic with intent the distribute, one count of possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, and one count of resisting arrest.
We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
SPD wants to continue to encourage citizens to report any suspicious activity.
