Shreveport Man Gets Life Plus Ten Years for Drug Related Murder
A Shreveport man who was convicted in June for a drug-related murder just got handed a lengthy sentence.
22 year-old Lloyd Tremaine Cooks was found guilty of the murder of the 2022 murder of Jeremy Wyatt. The two met at a Shreveport gas station for a drug deal that turned deadly.
There were also additional charges that Cooks stood trial for pertaining to an aggravated battery.
Judge Chris Victory sentenced Cooks earlier this week.
From the Caddo DA:
"A Shreveport man convicted in June of a vicious drug-related murder must not only serve the mandatory life term in prison at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, but also was sentenced to an additional decade in prison for violating the terms of a probation granted for an earlier murder attempt."
Cooks was convicted back in 2022 of aggravated battery, which was a lesser charge than what he had originally been charged with in this case. The charge was originally attempted second-degree murder. Probation granted for this was revoked.
