Sexual Battery of a Juvenile Leads to Arrest of Shreveport Man

The Shreveport Police Department has arrested a man following an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse dating back several years.

The investigation began after an adult reported that she had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by Walter Evans between the ages of 9 and 12. Detectives conducted an investigation, which resulted in evidence to obtain a warrant for Evans' arrest.

Evans was arrested and charged with:

· First Degree Rape

· Molestation of a Juvenile Under the Age of 13

· Sexual Battery of a Victim Under the Age of 13

Evans was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

These crimes against a child allegations are a reminder of the lasting impact of sexual abuse. The Shreveport Police Department is committed to thoroughly investigating crimes against children and holding those responsible accountable.

"Under Louisiana law, a conviction for First Degree Rape may carry the most severe penalties authorized by law, including the possibility of capital punishment under applicable statutes.
