Shreveport Police Arrest Man for Battery and Public Intoxication
Last week, Shreveport Police Officers were called to West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop for a disorderly person in a business.
While SPD was on their way to the scene, they were informed by dispatch that the incident escalated to physical violence. When Police got to the scene, they found Robert Macconnell. Macconnell was found to be heavily intoxicated and was acting aggressive.
According to witness statements, Macconnell hit two female employees in the face. When Police tried to detain Macconnell, he tried to fight them off, but SPD was able to detain him while avoiding any serious injury.
Macconnell was booked on the following charges:
· Two counts of Simple Battery
· One count of Theft
· One count of Trespassing
· One count of Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence
· One count of Simple Battery of a Police Officer
· One count of Simple Escape
· One count of Disturbing the Peace by Public Intoxication
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department condemns this kind of behavior in the strongest terms. Individuals who assault others—especially employees simply trying to do their jobs—will be held accountable. There is no excuse for violence in the workplace or toward officers working to keep our community safe."
