Shreveport Firefighters Battle Afternoon Blaze

Yesterday afternoon, the Shreveport Fire Department were called to Portland Avenue to reports of a garage fire.

The first truck arrived on scene within 3 minutes and could see heavy smoke and flame pouring out of the carport of a home. The fire had already extended in to the single-story house.

All people in the house at the time the fire started were able to escape with their pets and no one was injured. 29 firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly and crews saw to it that all hot-spots were doused.
