As we approach the hot summer months with record-breaking temperatures, the Shreveport Fire Department is gearing up for its mid-year smoke alarm campain by targeting 500 homeowners in the historic Ingleside community. And the fire prevention officials are asking residents there to call them before Saturday to schedule a time to get a free smoke alarm installed. The department has conducted door-to-door smoke alarm drives for the past two years, with the focus of placing 10-year tamper-proof alarms in every home in the city of Shreveport. They'll hit the streets beginning at 8:30 Saturday morning in an effort to reach that goal.
