Hot weather has bee the topic of conversation in Northwest Louisiana this week, but a chance of severe storms has been brewing in the background.

With temperatures into the 90s this week, and forecasts of 100+ degree weather for next week, have dominated the weather focus recently. Not to mention a lot of talk about what's happening with wildfire smoke in the North East states. But perhaps we should shift our attention to the threat of severe storms in the Shreveport area for the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued some advisories over the threat of severe storms. Mainly focused on Saturday, the National Weather Service expects a threat for damaging winds and large hail. There doesn't appear to be a threat for tornadoes with this advisory. Here's what the National Weather Service in Shreveport says about the threat on Saturday:

"The risk for strong to severe thunderstorms has been upgraded to now include an Enhanced Risk for much of Four-State region on Saturday into Saturday night. A Slight Risk is highlighted for the remainder of the area. Damaging wind gusts along with large hail will be the primary threats in addition to heavy rainfall that could result in flash flooding."

As far as the flooding concerns from the National Weather Service, they anticipate as much as 3 inches of rain in some areas between Saturday and Saturday night.

The Weather Network also produces a 3-day Severe Weather Outlook, and for Shreveport, they have labeled Saturday as a 5 out of 10 for severe storms.
