The Old Farmer’s Almanac Says Louisiana Winter Will Stay Mild This Year
We still have a good bit of hot summer days ahead, but it's always fun to think about winter and the possibility of seeing snow in northwest Louisiana. What kind of winter is on the way? The Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a warmer fall season this year.
The stats shows it might even be very warm through the Halloween season.
When will we see temps start to dip close to freezing? The report says things will start to cool off in November, but it still is not expected to be extremely cold across Louisiana.

When Can We Expect the First Frost of 2026?
The report shows much of the state will get a first frost in mid to late November. The last spring frost of the year happened back on March 7 in Shreveport. So it’s been a while since we have dipped near that freezing mark. A frost is defined as a temp between 29° and 32°F. That can be cold enough to kill some tender plants.
What Kind of Winter Is on the Way for Shreveport?
The Farmer's Almanac says
Winter will be warmer than normal, with the coldest periods in mid-December, early and late January, and early February. Precipitation and snowfall will be below normal, with the best chances for snow in the north in mid-November, late January, and early February.
North Louisiana will obviously get colder than other parts of the state. But we are not likely to see a deep freeze any time soon.
