UPDATE (10:05pm): Even though some early reports suggested that an armed robbery was involved, new information paints a different picture. Reports now say that the officer who was shot was not on duty at the time of the shooting, but rather about to go on-duty. The officer was wearing her uniform at the time of the shooting.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Over 50 Shreveport Police units are on the scene on Midway Avenue tonight. The call came in after 8pm, and reports now say that a female Shreveport Police Officer was wounded in the incident.

KMSS is reporting that a female Shreveport Police officer was shot in the head, and has been transported to University Health. No report on her condition is currently available.

The incident comes as Substitute Police Chief Ben Raymond, and new Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins, have been working to redeploy Shreveport Police resources to higher crime areas, during peak crime hours.

Tonight's incident took place on Midway Avenue, near Linwood and Bernstein.
