Pop UP Launch Party, Calendar of Events, Set for Downtown Shreveport

Restaurants, specialty food shops and retail vendors are gearing up for this week's Pop UP launch party, set for Thursday, May 8th, from 5-7 p.m.

This is a time for you to come out and see what these vendors have to offer, and encourage them to decide that downtown is the right place for them. The evening will be full of fun, family-friendly activities, and is the kick-off for the big event, which runs May 12-23 in the Red River District.

Here's the Pop UP Calendar of Events:

May 12 - Pop In to Pop UP

Five restaurants, seven retail shops and two specialty food stores await. Pick up your shopper card at any location to be entered into contests for gift certificates and prizes. All day.

May 13 - A New You Day

Get a fresh new look in home décor, clothing, jewelry, art & marketing. Enter the drawing to be named King/Queen of Pop UP for a day (Crown & Scepter Included). All day.

May 14 - Eat Dessert First Day

Roll through Hump Day with homemade banana pudding, strawberry shortcake, beignets, cupcakes & cookies. Available All Day.

May 15, 5-8 p.m. - Shop, Sup, Pup

Bring your pooch for a ‘Dog’s Night Out’! Vendors, dining on the patio, a Fido Fashion Show, Adopt a Pet.

Also, 5-9 p.m., Pop UP Pub Crawl - drink specials, shopping & more!

May 16 - Be Seen or UNSCENE

Fortify yourself for UNSCENE with a Southern Soul lunch or dinner special, frothy coffee drinks & beignets & fresh-from-the-garden salads. All Day.

Live music by Red Thread. Five restaurants Open for Business.

May 17 - 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Hidden History: The Story Comes Alive

Historic figures including ne’er do wells and flashy floozies will show you what the riverfront of the 1800s was really like.
Food, contests and fun. (Hint: The shell games may be rigged!)

May 18 - 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. Sherry’s Diner is OPEN with Sunday lunch specials.

May 19 - Monday: It’s a Grind! (All Day)

Monday’s back, but it doesn’t have to be bad. POP In for lunch, shopping & more.
Café Camellia is offering Coffee Specials all day.

May 20 - Lovin’ Louisiana Day - The State We’re In

Peruse Louisiana-themed products & dine on red beans & rice, cajun chicken, beignets and dark, rich coffee. Love your state and pass the jambalaya. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

May 21 - National Hamburger Month Celebration

Go gourmet (Chipolte Mayo, Black Bean, Turkey Slaw or Build Your Own) or traditional (Beef or Beef Piled with Cheese).

May 22 - Bring on the Bugs! (All Day)
