Shreveport Police Announce Operation to Help With Homelessness
The Shreveport Police Department's Community Oriented Policing Bureau, in partnership with Hope Connections Street Outreach and CADA Mobile Crisis Response teams, will embark on a collaborative operation to address challenges in the Downtown and Red River District areas of Shreveport.
Operation “New Dawn Downtown” aims to engage the homeless population in these areas, which has been a growing concern for local businesses and patrons. This initiative is designed to foster positive interactions, provide critical resources and information, and connect individuals with support services.
Our goal is to build trust and offer meaningful assistance to those experiencing homelessness, while also addressing the needs of the downtown community.
Key Objectives:
· Engagement and Support: Officers and outreach teams will work to build rapport with the homeless population, offering resources and assistance to those in need.
· Business Outreach: The Shreveport Police Neighborhood Assistance Team (NAT) and SPD Officers will reach out to local businesses to gather feedback and improve responses to their concerns.
The operation will take place over several days and at various times to ensure comprehensive coverage and effectiveness. Through this collaborative effort, the Shreveport Police Department seeks to enhance safety and improve the quality of life for everyone in the downtown area.
