A single-family house fire in Plain Dealing has claimed the life of an elderly North Bossier Parish woman.

The single family one-frame home is located at 3233 Old Plain Dealing Road, less than one mile north of the Maximum Security Facility.  A Bossier Sheriff’s deputy was at the Maximum Security Facility when he noticed smoke up the road.  He traveled north on Old Plain Dealing and was met by both a FedEx and UPS truck who informed him that a female was at home at the fire’s location.

By the time the deputy reached the home, it was fully engulfed in flames and smoke.  He ran to a window and began to yell for the female.  He then heard someone or something fall.  He kicked in the side door to the home and yelled “ma’am, ma’am” several times in attempt to located the victim, but there was no answer.  The flames and smoke became too severe for him to enter the home.

Fire Districts 3, 5, and 7 were dispatched to the fire.  An adult female victim, later identified as 74-year-old Mary Jane Aiken Moore., was found dead inside the home.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.  The fire began at approximately 2:50 p.m.
