A family of four has been displaced from their home after a fire rendered their dwelling uninhabitable.

The Shreveport Fire Department was called to the 2900 block of Lakehurst for a reported house fire at 7:37 AM Moday. Fire crews arrived to the scene only four minutes later and found smoke billowing from windows on the east and south sides of a wood frame home.

Although two adults and two children lived at the home, there was only one person home at the time of the blaze. That person was able to safely escape the burning structure prior to SFD arrival. It took twenty-eight firefighters around eighteen minutes to extinguish the fire.

The majority of fire damage was to a rear bedroom and the attic above that bedroom, but the damage is considerable, therefore the home is currently unlivable.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family with living arrangements and other needs. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reported injuries.
