Mike Johnson On Trump Emergency Declaration: Courts Will Uphold [VIDEO]

Congressman Mike Johnson talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about President Donald Trump's recent emergency declaration, those challenging its legality and the effect it will - or won't have on stemming the flow of illegal immigrants at America's southern border.

In defending the President's order, Johnson says, "We definitely have a national emergency. Anybody who looks at the objective facts has to agree. It's a humanitarian crisis, it's a national security."

The Congressman cites problems with sex trafficking and drug and human smuggling as the major problems that Trump wants his declaration to address, but also expects Democrats to attempt to block the President's move through legal action, despite the Chief Executive's "broad authority given in the 1936 National Emergencies Act." Johnson adds that, in the end, he thinks the courts will uphold the constitutionality of the legislation. "Probably no the district courts or the appellate courts, but I think the Supreme Court, under Chief Justice Roberts, will ultimately uphold it."
