Mayoral candidate Lee O. Savage talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his plan to reduce violent crime in Shreveport, including finding someone new to head the SPD.

Savage tells KEEL listeners that one of his first actions as the city's chief executive would be to replace current Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump, who he says, "is certainly a nice guy, but he's not the guy we need to be leading our police force." The candidate continues, "SPD has no leader. Our chief must have passion and show up. We need a face of the department. We need someone who comes out and takes it to heart. I want a chief who gets moved, who gets mad when there is violence in our city."

Savage also expresses concern about the number of unsolved murders in the city and, as a result, murderers loose on the streets of Shreveport.
