Law enforcement officers from several different agencies teamed up and worked together last weekend to help keep the streets of Shreveport safe. A safety checkpoint was held Saturday night, March 26, 2011 in the 9200 block of Ellerbe Road as an integral component of an ongoing, singular commitment on the part of authorities to reduce the number of deaths and injuries reported on our roadways. The checkpoint was a collaborative effort between the Louisiana State Police, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Shreveport Police Department. Officers were checking for impaired drivers as well as any other violations that could potentially compromise the safety of motorists.

During the four hour operation officers, troopers, and deputies screened 136 vehicles, resulting in three misdemeanor arrests for D.W.I. and one arrest for misdemeanor narcotics possession. In addition, 40 citations for 56 infractions were issued.
