Did You Know Plain Dealing Is The Birthplace of WWE Legend Booker T?
Booker T is an undeniable legend in the world of pro-wrestling, but did you know he was born in the small town of Plain Dealing, Louisiana?
The first African-American champion in WCW and the second African-American world champion in WWE, Booker T started his wrestling career in Houston, Texas, alongside his brother and fellow wrestling legend Stevie Ray.
How A Small Town Louisiana Boy Became A Wrestling Icon
Booker T. Huffman was born on March 1st, 1965, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. Sadly, before Booker was a year old, his father passed.
Booker T's dad was, according to those who knew him, a family man working hard at a pool hall, but on the side, he was a moonshiner and gambler. As the story goes, his father was going to get ice for the pool hall and unexpectedly died of a stroke at the age of 59 years old.
Booker's mother, Rosa Huffman, decided to take her kids elsewhere after the death of her husband. Rosa took Booker T. and his 8 siblings to Houston, where she began a job as a nurse, supporting her children by herself.
Booker was born in Louisiana but was never truly raised here in the Bayou State. His mother passed away when he was 13, leaving him and his siblings to struggle on their own, but as we know today, Booker T. managed to make it despite being handed massive setbacks.
Could we see Booker T. play into his Louisiana roots when WWE comes to New Orleans for WrestleMania 42?
