One of the largest professional bass fishing organizations in the world, Major League Fishing, has announced that in 2027 they will return to not only one northwest Louisiana lake, but they'll visit a total of three.

Taking to social media, the bass fishing giant, MLF, announced the 2027 Bass Pro Tour would make stops in our local area with a tournament slated for February 25 through February 28 on Caddo and Cross Lakes and would make a return to the area from April 1 through April 4 on the world renown Toledo Bend.

MLF's Bass Pro Tour is comprised of a total of fifty of the top touring professional bass fishing anglers in the world and that includes a number of Arklatex anglers like Justin Cooper of Zwolle, Louisiana, Todd Faircloth of Jasper, Texas, Marshall Hughes of Hemphill, Texas, and Nick LeBrun of Benton, Louisiana.

Major League Fishing has certainly been no stranger to our area with a number of recent tournaments in our area including a stop in November of 2025 when the Fishing Clash Series Summit Cup pitted two-man teams, including Benton's Nick LeBrun and Jasper's Todd Faircloth, competing on Caddo, Cypress Lake and Cross Lake.

Other recent MLF stops in the Arklatex region include the MLF Heavy Hitters 2022 tournament on Lake Palestine in Tyler, Texas, the 2023 MLF Heavy Hitters tournament on Caney Creek and Bussey Brake in the Monroe, Louisiana area and the MLF Bass Pro Tour on Toledo Bend in 2024.

Of the announcement of the 2027 MLF Bass Pro Tour, Daniel Fennel, MLF Senior Director of Tournament Operations stated, "The 2027 Bass Pro Tour schedule is exactly what this league is built for – great fisheries, passionate host communities and the best anglers in the world competing in a format that showcases every decision they make on the water."

Fennel continues, "From historic venues like the St. Johns River, Toledo Bend and Lake Champlain to exciting stops like the Pasquotank River and our dual-lake event in Louisiana, this schedule will give our anglers a tremendous test and give fans a season full of storylines to follow, from start to finish."
