Early Morning Shooting in SW Shreveport – Suspect Fires Shots at a Deputy
The hunt is on for a man who opened fire on a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Deputy early this morning. This incident started as a traffic stop just after midnight on Wednesday morning.
Sheriff Henry Whitehorn says a deputy tried to pull a car over in the 3000 block of Colquitt Road in Shreveport. The driver pulled into the Colony Apartments complex, but he quickly got out of the car and ran toward one of the apartments. At that point, the man stopped and pulled a long rifle, and fired multiple rounds at the deputy. One round struck the deputy's patrol vehicle, but fortunately, the deputy was not injured.
The suspect's car is described as a dark-colored Nissan Altima.
The man fled after firing the shots. Shreveport police were called in to help set up a perimeter. Deputies and officers did an extensive search of the area. The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT) later searched an apartment believed to be connected to the suspect, but the suspect was there.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident to identify the suspect. The suspect is currently described as a Black male wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with information about this incident or the suspect's identity is encouraged to contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office at 318-675-2170 or submit tips anonymously through Caddo/Shreveport Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
