The Bossier City Police Department is currently accepting applications for jailers. The starting annual pay for this position is $31, 200. Candidates are also eligible for state supplemental pay of $500 a month after one year on the job.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and successfully pass a civil service test as well as medical, psychological and physical fitness exams, possess a valid Louisiana driver's license and have completed a standard high school education or equivalent.
Bossier City police department employees are also offered medical and dental coverage with optional dependent coverage available. Other benefits include paid vacation days, paid holidays, military leave and sick leave.
After submitting an application, candidates will be notified by the Bossier City Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board via mail, of the date and location of their civil service exam. Once applicants receive their test scores from the civil service board, the Bossier City Police Department will contact each qualified candidate.
Applications are available at the Bossier City Police Department administrative offices located on the second floor of the Bossier City Police Department at 620 Benton Road. They are being accepted Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am and 4 pm. The deadline to apply is 4 pm on June 19th.
