Former Fire Chief Gets Reinstated and Then Retires
After a 3 year battle, former Shreveport Fire Chief Craig Mulford has been reinstated. Mulford was fired in 2014 amid allegation of malfeasance in office related to an abuse scandal at fire station 8.
The Shreveport Civil Service Board voted to reinstate Mulford will full back pay. After the ruling, Mulford retired from the fire department.
Service Board Chairman Michael Carter told KEEL News, 'Chief Craig Mulford was reinstated to full rank and pay, retroactive to his date of termination at the request of the City of Shreveport. Upon reinstatement with full back pay, Chief Mulford submitted a letter of resignation. The Board voted to accept the reinstatement request. The Board also accepted the letter of resignation immediately after the reinstatement.'
Carter went on to say that Mulford understands the city moved on while he was gone and that the decision to retire was best for both the city and Mulford.
