Shreveport Fire Chief, Scott Wolverton released a statement early Sunday morning.

Shreveport Firefighters started Sunday morning with a report of a structure fire located at 517 Allen Ave at 6:04am this morning. Shreveport Fire Department’s Engine 4 was the first unit  to arrive on scene of the duplex fire at 6:08am. Upon the firefighter's speedy arrival, Engine 4 reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure, and initiated operations to extinguish the fire without other structures in the area being damaged.

With the help of twenty-five firefighters it took nearly twenty-seven minutes to bring the fire under control. Both units in the duplex had no people living in them and no utilities were connected to the structure. The building was heavily damaged in the fire. No injuries to civilians, firefighters, or other properties were reported. The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
