Councilman John Nickelson: Why was Councilman James Green So Upset? [VIDEO]

Shreveport City Councilman John Nickelson talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about an outburst at Monday's city council work session by Councilman James Green. Green vehemently objected to a number of amendments to the Shreveport budget put forth by Nickelson and other council members.

Nickelson tells KEEL listeners that his response to Green was to consider each amendment on its merits, not to make an across-the-board condemnation of those proposals. The first term councilman added that, despite the exchange, he still considers Green to be his friend.

The numerous amendments to the budget were a result of a $1.4 million overspending by the city's finance department. A vote on the amended budget is expected at the council's regular meeting Tuesday.
