Caddo Sheriff Likes Changes To Tax Exemption Rules [VIDEO]
Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about changes to the way tax exemptions for manufacturers across the state are approved or turned down.
The changes, which began with an executive order from Governor John Bel Edwards that took the decision power concerning those exemptions and gave them to individual parishes and municipalities across the state. Now, approval or rejection of those exemptions for manufacturers who meet the criteria will be decided by each parish commission, school board, sheriff and the municipalities city council.
Prator tells KEEL listeners that he thinks "it's a good idea, to be honest with you." The Sheriff adds that the new rules "give more local authority over these incentives." The head Caddo lawman, who has already given a thumbs down to the exemption application bt Shreveport's Inferno Manufacturing, says he will "use the (additional) money for the citizens of Caddo Parish."
