Caddo Schools Launch New Era with Bold Vision, New Tools, and Student Focus

Superintendent Keith Burton says this school year feels different, and that’s by design. With a new logo, tagline, website, and app set to launch Friday morning, Caddo Parish Schools are making a clear statement: the district is turning a page.

A New Identity: “Excellent, Everyone, Every Day”

“We’re moving beyond ‘We Are Caddo,’” Burton explained during a recent interview. “This is about excellence at every level: teachers, students, parents, administrators. Everyone, every day.” The new tagline sets the tone for what Burton hopes will become a cultural reset across the system. He compared it to a football team executing every play with precision. “When everybody does their job well, success follows.”

Burton believes the renewed sense of purpose can already be felt on campuses, from pre-K classrooms to administrative offices. The district saw notable gains in math, ELA, and science scores last year. “We’re not where we want to be,” Burton said, “but we’re clearly on the right track.”

Real-Time Connections: New App Empowers Parents and Students

Communication has long been a challenge in large districts, especially as families change phone numbers and email addresses. The new parent-student app is meant to fix that. Parents will get real-time updates on grades, attendance, and announcements. Coaches can send schedule changes directly to athletes, and parents will see those, too.

While the app is being rolled out for high schoolers first, elementary and middle school families will have full access to its communication features. The move, Burton said, is a leap toward keeping families better connected and informed.

Teacher Shortage? Not This Year

Caddo’s staffing levels are stronger than ever, Burton noted. "We’re sitting in the mid-90s percentage-wise,” he said, referencing the number of positions filled. To close gaps, the district reassigned 37 employees from central office roles directly into schools, especially in high-need areas like special education.

Transition from Queensborough to J.S. Clark

After Queensborough Elementary closed, Burton ensured students, and teachers, had a soft landing. Most staff followed students to J.S. Clark, which is now fully staffed and prepped for a focus on career and technical education. “We wanted that continuity,” Burton said.

What’s Next for Caddo Schools?

Along with academic momentum and improved staffing, Caddo ended the year with a budget surplus. Plans are underway to reinvest those funds directly back into schools. For Burton, it’s all part of the same mission: Excellence, Everyone, Every day.
