No More Hunger: Bossier Schools Fueling Kids All Summer Long!
Bossier Schools is once again offering free, nutritious summer meal boxes to children 18 and under, regardless of family income. This program, funded by the USDA Summer Food Service Program and administered by the Bossier Schools Child Nutrition department, aims to provide essential meals to children who rely on school meals during the academic year.
What's Included and How it Works
To participate, parents or guardians must complete a registration form for each child. Once registered, meal boxes can be picked up every Tuesday, from 7-11 a.m., starting June 3 until July 29, with the exception of July 1.
Each meal box will contain seven breakfasts and seven lunches that are kid-friendly, meet nutritional guidelines, and are shelf-stable, meaning they don't require refrigeration or heating.
Pick-Up Locations
This year, there are four convenient drive-through sites for pick-up:
- Benton Middle School
- W.T. Lewis Elementary
- Parkway High School
- Princeton Elementary
Addressing a Critical Need
"Feeding children during the summer is a challenge for many families who depend on school meals," said Karla Horton, Child Nutrition Program Supervisor at Bossier Schools. "Last year was a huge success and we are proud to be able to offer the summer meal box program again at no charge to ensure that children are properly nourished and fueled throughout the summer."

Last summer, the Bossier Schools Child Nutrition department distributed an impressive half-million meals through this program, which is part of a federal feeding initiative for USDA-designated rural schools.
