Speaker of the House Taylor Barras talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the recently ended special legislative session, how the state will solve its budget problems and the relationship between the GOP dominated House and Governor John Bel Edwards.

Barras tells KEEL listeners that he disputes comments made by Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne that a pre-session deal to solve the budget shortfall had been made by the Governor, the Senate President (John Alario) and Barras himself, saying Dardenne "is not exactly accurate." The Speaker adds that members of both parties had been working on a number of potential solutions, but that though the "framework" of an agreement existed, "there was no way the GOP was voting for a billion dollars in taxes."
