Detectives have arrested a man they believe responsible for the shooting death of a west Shreveport teen yesterday afternoon.

On March 3, 2022, just before 12:15 p.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of Lillian Street on reports of a shooting. Arriving officers located 17-year-old Devin Myers on the sidewalk in front of a residence. Myers was suffering from at least 5 gunshot injuries to his back and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Units were summoned to the scene. CSIU collected evidence, including video, and detectives interviewed witnesses.

Through evidence collected from the scene, witness statements, and other investigative information, detectives learned that Myers had reportedly been involved in an ongoing dispute with a person identified to them as 18-year-old Shamichael Pearson. They believe that Myers was approached by Pearson near the roadway on Lillian Street and when Myers saw that Pearson was armed, he attempted to flee. Pearson allegedly shot Myers at least 5 times in the back as he tried to run away.

Detectives procured an arrest warrant for Pearson, charging him with one count of Second-Degree Murder. They also obtained an arrest warrant for Pearson’s home. Pearson was taken into custody at his home and at least one firearm and other evidence were collected from that residence. He was taken to the Shreveport Police Complex for interviews, then subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the warrant. Bond was set at $350,00.00.
