As students return to class across the state, many parents have been chasing immunization records which are required at Louisiana schools. School is back in session in Caddo and Natchitoches Parishes today.

The State Department of Health has some good news for parents today. You can find these records online. And they are free.

The Advertiser reports the records are available through LA.MyIR.net. At that site you will be able to securely view, download and print a copy of shot records.  The records are accepted by schools, employers, state agencies and other organizations that require proof of immunization.

Officials say it's also an efficient way to share vaccine information when visiting a new healthcare provider for the first time.

LA.MyIR.net is part of a pilot program funded and supported by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Vaccine Program Office.
