Woman Dies After Driving into Red River

The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched at 06:58 PM to the parking lot directly across from the Shreveport Sci-port. It was reported by a citizen that a car had been driven into the Red River. The first unit arrived on scene at 07:03 PM. Shreveport divers were in the river approximately 7 minutes after arriving on scene. The body of an elderly female was recovered.

The identity of the victim has not been identified. Shreveport Fire terminated the incident at approximately 09:00 PM for safety concerns of the rivers current, but will return in the morning to recover the vehicle.This was a multi-agency response involving the Shreveport Fire, Shreveport Police, Caddo Sheriff, Bossier Parish Police, and Caddo Parish coroners office.
