Construction is moving along quickly at the Amazon Plant in Shreveport. There have been very few delays in getting the 650,000 square foot multi-story complex built. This project is bringing more than 1,000 jobs to our market. The construction phase accounts for about 800 jobs. The Shreveport plant is being built in the Hunter Industrial Park near the Caddo Correctional Center.
Where Else in Louisiana Does Amazon Have Plants?
Louisiana already has an Amazon Plant in Carencro, near Lafayette that opened up last year with a start-up staff of about 900 workers. It was projected to have about 500 jobs, but it looks like the facility will keep a fulltime staff of close to 600 workers. The Carencro operation was built at the former site of the Evangeline Downs Racetrack right on I-49 near I-10.

The Carencro operation is the largest in the state at 1.1 million square feet. The Baton Rouge facility will be about 800,000 square feet while the Shreveport operation is planned at 650,000 square feet. At the Baton Rouge facility, employees will pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items such as books, toys, electronics and other household items.
