Dr. Catherine O'Neal, Infectious Disease Specialist at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about "herd immunity' and how it applies to - and helps to fight - diseases like COVID 19.

Dr. O'Neal tells KEEL listeners how herd immunity develops and as more people of a group become immune to an illness, they protect those vulnerable because the disease is not able to spread.

The doctor also talks about the governor's "stay-at-home" order for people in Louisiana, the closing of schools and when it will and when folks across the state will be able to return to work safely.
