CPSO Arrests Keithville Man in Vehicular Homicide Investigation
A Keithville man has been arrested in connection with a fatal traffic crash that happened in May of last year.
The wreck happened on May 28, 2025 at about 12:30pm on Colquitt Road just north of Chandler Road. It was a head-on collision involving a 2008 Toyota Tundra driven by 55-year-old Michael Lane Watts and a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driven by the victim.
Both of the drivers were found unconscious at the scene of the wreck. Both men had to be extricated from the pickups by the Caddo Fire District. Both were rushed to Ochsner LSU Health with life-threatening injuries. Once the victim arrived at the hospital, medical staff pronounced him deceased. Due to Watts needing surgery, deputies were unable to conduct an interview or perform impairment testing at that time.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Sgt. Larry Pierce later obtained a search warrant through the Caddo District Court for Watts' medical records related to his treatment following the crash. The records indicated that medical staff collected a blood sample shortly after Watts arrived at the hospital, which revealed that his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.

Based on the investigation's findings, an arrest warrant was issued, charging Watts with one count of Vehicular Homicide.
On February 10, 2026, deputies arrested Watts at his home on Jersey Gold Road in Keithville. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the outstanding warrant.
This investigation continues.
