Oil City Sets Up Community Center for Urgent Water Crisis Relief
Water troubles are still a huge problem in the town of Oil City in northwest Louisiana. Town Mayor Cheryl Clifton Driskell has been working to get help in place.
Through the efforts of GOHSEP, a shower trailer and a washer trailer are now available at the Oil City Community Center at 310 Savage Street.
What Services Will Be Available at Emergency Site
Residents will be able to take a shower and wash clothes. Mayor Driskell says “while this is not an ideal situation, it is a helpful resource, and we are thankful to have it available.”

What Are the Hours for the temporary facility
It is now open to the public and will be open Wednesday February 4 until 10pm and will be back open Thursday morning at 6am and remain open until 10pm. It will operate until full water service is restored to the town of Oil City.
Mayor Driskell says North Caddo medical will be offering snacks while folks wash their clothes and Citizens Bank is offering additional bottled water for citizens to take on the road.
You can tell by the Mayor's comments to residents on Facebook that she is very frustrated by what is currently happening.
Driskell says she is also working with leaders in the area on a more reliable plan in the future. She says Oil City was designed to have its own infrastructure and she will continue to work on that. She also wants to find ways to prevent this from happening in the future.

Crews in Blanchard are working to get all the repairs made so full water service can be restored to Oil City. Many residents have been without water since Friday.
Blanchard supplies water to several communities including Oil CIty, Mooringsport, Lakeview, Belcher, Dixie, Gilliam and of course, Blanchard.
