Two Louisiana Gals Are Part of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 19
There are a lot of unfamiliar names in the latest "Dancing with the Stars" cast (at least, to me), announced this morning on "Good Morning America." But there are two plenty of people in Louisiana will recognize.
Lolo Jones is one of the greatest track athletes of her generation and one of the greatest American hurdlers of all time. The American record holder at 60 meters, Lolo was a three-time national champion at Louisiana State University (which led to being named All-American 11 times). In addition to appearances at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics for hurdles, Lolo became just the 10th American in history to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics, as a member of the U.S. Bobsled Team for the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia. She's partnered with new pro dancer KEO MOTSEPE.
And everyone in north Louisiana knows who Sadie Robertson is. The 17-year-old star of A&E's "Duck Dynasty" is a high school athlete and motivational speaker. She's also collaborated with fashion designer Sherri Hill on her own “daddy-approved” prom dress line, Live Original, developed her own Live Original line of school supplies for DaySpring. She's paired up with returning pro Mark Ballas.
There are some other names I'm liking on this season's cast list -- Alfonso Ribeiro, best known for his roles on "Silver Spoons" and "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," Actor and model Antonio Sabato, Jr., and actress Lea Thompson, who's graced the small and big screens with her roles in the "Back to the Future" movies, 80's favorite "Some Kind of Wonderful" and series "Caroline in the City." And who can forget Tommy Chong??
The new season kicks off September 15 at 7 p.m. Central Time on ABC. One couple will be eliminated on the results show the following night.
Here's the full list of the new competitors and their pro partners:
