Train Derails Near Downtown Shreveport

A train derailed near Downtown Shreveport closing traffic to the spring street bridge adjacent to Festival Plaza.

Upon derailment, one of the train's larger cars bent a lower support beam, possibly weakening the structure of the Spring Street bridge.

The bridge was quickly closed by authorities, and traffic is currently being rerouted.No word yet on when the clean up and repairs process will begin. Also no word on when the bridge will be opened back up for travel.
