Top Crime Stories of 2020 in Shreveport Bossier
In looking back at our crime files for 2020, there were many stories that caught our attention this year. Here's our list of the biggest crime stories for the year.
No doubt, violent crimes has been a huge problem in Shreveport. The city has recorded 73 murders as of December 12 and there seems to be no end in sight. State Police and the Caddo Sheriff’s Office have stepped in the try to help curb the violence.
Hurricane Chris Arrested for Murder
Well known local rap artist Hurricane Chris was arrested in June on a second degree murder charge. Christopher Dooley Jr., aka Hurricane Chris was indicted in October for the shooting death of a man at a gas station on Hearne Avenue.
Bossier Man Accused of Killing Business Partner
A Bossier City man pleads not guilty to murder and obstruction charges. 43-year-old John Hardy Jr. is accused of killing his business partner, 48-year-old Garrett Wilson. Wilson was reported missing in January. Human remains found a short time later were identified last month as Wilson. Police also say Hardy was arrested last month. He has a prior leg injury and was taken to a hospital. Police say he tried to overpower a deputy to escape from his hospital room. He is expected to face new charges in connection to that incident.
A wild night at the Stoner Avenue skate park back in July. A group of young people were apparently hanging at the popular spot when two groups started scrapping it out. It seems that when one fight would end or get broken up, another would start.
In June, several young men are seen driving down the Clyde Fant Parkway waving guns out the window of the cars. A motorist traveling behind the cars shot this video and shared it online. On this video you can clearly see the Overton Brooks V.A. Hospital in the background.
A lengthy operation involving several area agencies results in a huge drug bust. Dozens of suspected drug criminals were locked up.
Missing Woman Found Dead at Hospital
The body of a woman missing was found at Ochsner-LSU Health Shreveport. Jennifer Dunman was last seen at a home on Arthur in the Broadmoor neighborhood. But her Toyota SUV was found outside the hospital.
