Three men, including the victim, are facing charges after a shooting in west Shreveport last night.

At approximately 7:22 p.m. on January 30, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting near the intersection of Mabel Street and Greenwood Road. Upon arrival, officers located 22 year old Eric Taylor in a vehicle there suffering from three gunshot wounds.

Taylor was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what have been described as non-life-threatening injuries. Responding officers located a small quantity of suspected marijuana in the car that Taylor was in and ultimately arrested a passenger, identified as 18 year old Donavan G. Fuller, for possession of marijuana. Fuller, of the 3500 block of McWillie Avenue in Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Detectives were dispatched and immediately began their investigation. Investigators learned that Eric Taylor had apparently been involved in an ongoing dispute with some other male subjects. Taylor was allegedly riding in a car somewhere on Hearne Avenue when another vehicle pulled up and a known male suspect in that car began firing shots at him. Based on the victim’s statements and other evidence, detectives were able to identify 23 year old Marvelous T. Brown as the suspect who shot Taylor. Brown, of the 1800 block of Lyons Street in Shreveport, was arrested just after midnight and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of attempted second degree murder.

Upon further investigation, detectives learned that the victim had warrants outstanding for his arrest charging him with one count each of aggravated assault, domestic abuse battery, simple battery, and entering and remaining after being forbidden. Taylor also had six traffic warrants outstanding for his arrest as well. Eric Taylor, of the 2700 block of Milam Street in Shreveport, has been arrested and will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail as soon as he is released from LSUHSC.
