State Treasury Sending Millions in Unclaimed Property [VIDEO]
State Treasurer John Schroder talks with 101. 7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his ongoing campaign to return millions of dollars in unclaimed property to Louisiana citizens.
Schroder tells KEEL listenrs that, beginning this week, his department will begin mailing about 45,000 checks totaling $10 million to claimants.
The Treasurer adds that up to twenty percent of Louisianans have unclaimed property and that the average amount being returned is averaging $900 per check. Schroder emphasizes that the state currently holding $880 million in unclaimed property.
